This product enhancement technology is designed to improve efficiencies in fertiliser use and environmental performance.
New fertiliser product development is an important plank in Megafert’s future business development and growth strategy aimed at providing Australian farmers cost effective agronomic/nutrient solutions for crops and pastures in these very demanding times.
Product selection in helping maximize fertilizer use efficiency is a critical part of the nutrient management decision process.
All steps to improve nutrient uptake efficiency by plants, better match plant nutrient demand patterns or reduce nutrient losses caused through immobilization in the soil, leaching or nitrogen volatilization in the case of nitrogen fertilizers such as urea takes on a new importance in today’s agricultural systems.
Any nutrient loss can have significant economic, productivity and environmental impact.
At today’s cost of nutrients, fertilizer use efficiency assumes a new importance.
For example a 20% loss of nitrogen from surfaced applied urea whether it be through leaching or ammonia volatilization amounts to $120 tonne if urea is priced at $600 tonne let alone the undefined cost with the associated environmental risks .
